MY VALUES

If you’ve found your way to this page via other pages on my website, you’ll already know that I’m passionate about ADHD coaching and how it can help people with ADHD to lead a fulfilled and meaningful life.

But, if truth be known, I’m not such a big fan of many of the behaviours and common business practices in the coaching ‘industry’ as a whole.

It’s important to me that you know you’re in competent hands: this page substantiates my coaching credentials and also shows you how I put my values into practice in my work.

My primary motive is that you get the right help for you and I will only offer my services to you when I’m sure I can help you.

I'll tell you if:

  • I can’t help you, or
  • What you want help with goes beyond the scope of what I’m trained to provide, or
  • You would benefit from additional support, or
  • I know a fellow coach whose skills or expertise would be a better fit for you

If we start to work together, and you're not making progress towards the outcomes you wanted, we’ll talk about how or whether to continue working together.

Transparency is a key pillar of trust and I work on a ‘no surprises’ basis - what you see is what you get. Here's how:

  • Pricing: My pricing is clearly displayed on this website. I don’t charge additional fees for paying by instalments.
  •  Terms & Conditions: I’ll send you a Welcome Pack, with the terms of business plus everything you need to know about working with me.
  • Results: I share testimonials & case studies that span the full range of clients & are typical results.
  • Timescales: Understanding what your ADHD brain needs to thrive can take time, but it’s not a lifelong commitment.

Whilst the coaching industry is not regulated, there are many highly professional, extensively trained and hugely experienced coaches who operate with integrity and within a strong ethical framework.

  • I’ve undertaken advanced specialist ADHD coach training in addition to extensive general coaching training.
  •  I’ve trained and certified with reputable, accredited organisations that are currently considered to be the ‘gold standard’ within the industry.
  • The standard of my ADHD coaching has been evaluated at a high standard by the only independent credentialing organisation for ADHD coaching
  • I continue to develop my ADHD expertise and coaching skills through advanced training, supervision and mentoring.

I work to the ethical codes of both the ICF and PAAC, and continue to develop my skills as a coach through mentoring and advanced training.

This includes a particular emphasis on boundaries & scope of practice. Coaching does not constitute and is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological support. Diagnosis, prescribing or advising on medication, and trauma recovery are all outside the scope of coaching.

Standard online business practice is to use marketing tactics designed to exploit our innate psychological make up.

For neurodivergent people, there are aspects of this that play directly into the very things we're challenged by, such as impulse purchasing.

I believe these practices are expoitative, harmful and often unethical, so this is what I do instead:

  • Availability: if I put a time limit or a participant number limit on any of my marketing materials, this is because there is a real start date, deadline or capacity limit.
  •  No Pressure Call: the free call is a chance to see if we gel. There is no pressure to make a decision at the time - you can take as long as you want.
  • Permission: before I offer a service, I’ll either ask you to opt-in to receive emails about it, or give you an option to opt-out, plus you can one-click unsubscribe at the bottom of any email.
  • Promotional content: I don’t share issues where there's still processing or healing to do and, before I share, I ask myself: is it relevant, helpful, necessary and senstive to the experiences of the people who may read it?

I operate my business through an inclusive lens and within the following framework:

  • Context: When I write & in all my work, I consider the context and how representative, inclusive & eqitable it is.
  • Affordability: I provide a range of ways to work with me or learn from me, at varying price points. I offer a limited number of Pay What You Can places, which are available by application and free content through my newsletter, website and social media channels.
  • Accessibility: Wherever possible, I make my content accessible in the following ways: video captions, video speed control, audio version & transcripts
